ABOUT US
Papillon Film is a small independent production company based in Bucharest, Romania.
The first film produced by the company, the short fiction “Derby” was a festival success, being selected in over 70 film festivals (Berlin, Karlovy Vary, London, Sarajevo, AFI Fest etc) and being nominated at the EFA Awards.
In 2014 the company released “Love Bus: five love stories from Bucharest”, an omnibus film of five episodes, directed by five young and promising new romanian directors. In 2016 the company coproduced one of the biggest romanian hits at the box office, “Two Lottery Tickets”, directed by Paul Negoescu. The film was also well receieved by film critics and festivals (Shanghai, Thessaloniki, Zurich, Thessaloniki etc). “The Story of a Summer Lover” a romanian-bulgarian coproduction is the company’s latest release. Papillon Film is also involved in the FILM+ project, a development&support lab for young filmmakers, offering film equipment and tutoring for the participants.
